The RPA Kidney Quality Improvement Registry has once again been approved by CMS as a qualified clinical data registry (QCDR). The RPA Registry gathers data from across a variety of practices and geographies, allowing for meaningful benchmarking, comparison and insights at a national level. The RPA Registry may be used to report the three categories of MIPS for 2018: quality measures; advancing care information (ACI); and improvement activities (IA).

Key opinion leaders in the nephrology community have worked with RPA to develop custom, clinically-relevant measures that best reflect the quality care nephrologists deliver. Specifically, this means a practice has the opportunity to choose quality measures that are developed by nephrologists for nephrologists that count toward participation in MIPS rather than being limited to the standard set of general quality measures published by CMS. Supporting RPA's registry supports the entire specialty, not just one vendor, group, or EHR.

The RPA Registry offers 44 measures for 2018: 31 MIPS measures and 13 custom measures. In addition, reporting to the RPA Registry will satisfy the reporting to a clinical data registry reporting measure of ACI and may entitle the provider to a 5 percent bonus score. Reporting certain improvement activities through the RPA Registry will also earn a bonus, as will reporting quality measures via certified EHR technology. Please note, technical requirements must be met for these bonuses to apply.

Allscripts, Aprima, NextGen, Quest Diagnostics/Care360, and STI Chart Maker users may access the registry through their EHRs. Acumen, Braintree, Falcon and Greenway users should contact their EHR representative for more information.
