In recent weeks, one of RPA's 2018 legislative priorities, the Local Coverage Determination (LCD) Clarification Act of 2017 (H.R. 3635), has been the focus of increased interest on Capitol Hill. This bill would seek to enhance transparency and accountability on the part of Medicare Administrative Contractors (MACs) in the LCD development process. RPA has met with staff from the offices of Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) and House Speaker Paul Ryan (R-WI) recently, and the bill was also referenced in a letter from the Congressional Black Caucus (CBC) to CMS on a specific LCD, where the authors of the letter note that "this is why CBC members support HR 3635 to correct the flaws in the LCD process." RPA will continue to advocate for H.R. 3635, especially during the RPA Capitol Hill Day June 22.
