Guidance for Infection Control and Prevention Concerning Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) in Dialysis Facilities

The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) is dedicated to the continued health and safety of patients obtaining care within dialysis facilities to ensure facilities are prepared to respond to the threat of COVID-19. On March 10, 2020 CMS provided Guidance for Infection Control and Prevention Concerning Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) in Dialysis Facilities. This memorandum provides additional guidance to dialysis facilities to help control and prevent the spread of the virus.

Facilities should be monitoring the health status of everyone (in-center and home dialysis patients/visitors/staff/etc.) in their facility for signs and symptoms of respiratory infection, including COVID-19. Also, facilities should regularly monitor the CDC website for recent information and resources and contact their local county health department when needed.

The Agency also encourages you to visit the Department of Health's dedicated COVID-19 webpage at www.FloridaHealth.gov/COVID-19. This remains the best and most up-to-date resource for information and guidance regarding COVID-19 in Florida.
