Robert Geronemus, M.D.  1949-2009

Dr. Geronemus served our profession and our organization in so many ways.  It is simply impossible to list all of his accomplishments.   He is sorely missed.

Dr. Robert Geronemus was killed as a pedestrian in a hit and run accident in Miami on Saturday evening January 24th, 2009. He served as former President of the Florida Society of Nephrology (a position he held several times).  

Geronemus, Robert, MD, 60, passed away January 24, 2009. Beloved husband and best friend for 21 years to Laurie. Cherished father of Heather, Christina, Rachel & Mia; brother of David (Mitzi); adored son of Berle and the late Clement; uncle of Kate and Laura. He was a graduate of Cornell University A.B, University of Illinois M.S. Physics and MD Albert Einstein College of Medicine. He was a former Chief Resident of Medicine at Mt. Sinai Hospital New York and was widely published in his field of practice. He was Affiliate Clinical Associate Professor at FAU and was a senior partner of South Florida Nephrology Associates in Lauderdale Lakes, FL. Funeral service Tuesday, January 27th, 3:30 PM at Star of David Cemetery & Funeral Chapel, 7701 Bailey Road, N. Lauderdale 954-722-9000. Annual Robert Geronemus Memorial Renal Research Competition

The Florida Society of Nephrology is pleased to renew its support for the Nephrology Programs in Florida and to continue to recognize one of our profession's most accomplished leaders. 
The Annual Robert Geronemus Memorial Renal Research Competition takes place during the FSN Annual Meeting.

The Program Committee will select the two finalists to present their research during the Annual Meeting. The FSN will provide accommodations and prize money for the finalists.
Residents/Fellows not chosen as a finalist will be provided an opportunity to display their research in poster format during the conference.
