The Florida Society of Nephrology is pleased to announce its continued support of nephrology education and research through the 19th Annual Robert Geronemus Memorial Renal Research Competition.

2027 FSN Annual Meeting
January 15–17, 2027

Tampa, Florida

The Program Committee will select two finalists to present their research during the Annual Meeting. The FSN will provide accommodations and prize money for finalists. Residents and fellows not selected as finalists will have the opportunity to present their research during the poster session.

The Florida Society of Nephrology invites PGY-2 and PGY-3 Internal Medicine Residents, as well as Nephrology Fellows in Florida training programs, to submit their research for consideration.

Research Competition Submission Instructions

Eligibility

Any Fellow enrolled in an accredited Nephrology Fellowship Program in Florida may apply. PGY-2 and PGY-3 Internal Medicine Residents enrolled in accredited Florida residency programs are also eligible.

Important Dates

Abstract Deadline: November 1, 2026
Finalist Notification: December 15, 2026

Submission Requirements

  • It is not necessary to submit a complete manuscript. An abstract or research summary is sufficient.
  • All submissions must be completed through the online submission form.
  • Supporting documents may be uploaded separately as required.
  • The top two papers will be selected for presentation during the 2027 FSN Annual Meeting.

Selection Process

  • The FSN Research Competition Committee will review all eligible submissions.
  • Presentations delivered during the Annual Meeting will be included in the final judging process.
  • The FSN Executive Committee and invited Guest Speakers will judge the presentations.
  • Presentations should be no longer than 15 minutes.
  • Finalists will receive additional presentation instructions after selection.

Submission Acknowledgement

By submitting, you acknowledge and agree to the following requirements:
  • You will not upload a copy of the abstract as a supporting document.
  • The abstract is entered only in the designated text field within the submission form.
  • Supporting documents must not contain author, institution, residency, or fellowship program identification.
  • The abstract itself must contain no identifying information.
  • No patient-specific, patient-identifiable, or protected health information may be included.
  • Failure to follow these requirements may result in disqualification.
