The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) recently released its quarterly update to the end-stage renal disease prospective payment system (ESRD PPS), adding two new procedures to the consolidated billing requirements. [MM10193]

The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) recently released its quarterly update to the end-stage renal disease prospective payment system (ESRD PPS), adding two new procedures to the consolidated billing requirements.
The ESRD PPS provides a single payment to ESRD facilities that covers all of the resources used in furnishing an outpatient dialysis treatment. Effective October 1, 2017, CMS has added the following new codes were added to the list of items and services subject to the ESRD PPS consolidated billing requirements:
• G0499 - Hepatitis B screening in non-pregnant, high risk individual includes Hepatitis B Surface Antigen (HBSAG) followed by a neutralizing confirmatory test for initially reactive results, and antibodies to HBSAG (anti-hbs) and hepatitis B core antigen (anti-hbc)
• 87341 - Infectious agent antigen detection by immunoassay technique, (e.g., enzyme immunoassay [EIA], enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay [ELISA], immunochemiluminometric assay [IMCA]) qualitative or semiquantitative, multiplestep method; Hepatitis B Surface Antigen (HBSAG) neutralization
